A performing musician is as much a fan as he or she is a performer.
We know the electrifying excitement of watching a great performer.
There
isn't a musician I know who is not awed by the work of another. In the
presence of that person we are the same as is any other fan; all
pretense
is gone, the professional veneer is stripped away and we experience the
same reverence, even embarrassment in the presence of one we admire.
It is that love of the music that drives us to become performers in
the first place. We get to compound that joy by being able to play
before
you, though the glamour is a bit less than one might imagine, and the
preparation more involved than one might suspect.
In this section of the website, I'd like to share the other side of the
coin with you. From time to time, I will post diary entries here, to
share with you the joys, the frustrations and the mundanities of
performance. I hope you enjoy it!
